Alex Hoskyns blends controlled, smokey vocal textures with lyrical storytelling as an outlet for the negative emotions that come with being young. ​ Inspired vocally by the soul of Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, Susan Tedeschi, and Nina Simone, she explores and blends different genres and instrumentation, connecting them under the common themes of grief, jealousy, anger, and hurt.
